    It is with great pleasure that we invite you to trade at England's Medieval Festival at Herstmonceux Castle. The festival where HISTORY HAS NEVER BEEN SO MUCH FUN ! Enjoyed by visitors from around the world, it is Europe's largest Medieval Festival.
  • Food Trader Information

    There are three food trading areas at our festival:

    • Main Arena area, beside the Craft Marquee and Jester Inn Marquee
    • Castle area, beside Market Lane and Kid's Kingdom; and a camp site
    • Medieval trading area, near Village Square (must have authentic medieval stall/tent and food types)

    We will not select and locate similar food traders in the same areas on the festival grounds.

    The total number of mobile unit food concessions will be no more than eleven (11), and the acceptance of more than one unit by an individual concessionaire will be considered at the time of booking.

    While limited electric is available, all food traders must supply their own generator for power. There is a fee for the electric, but generators must be supplied by everyone in case there is an electric power shortage on the grounds.

    We are proud to advertise our event as being the most authentic medieval Festival of its kind in the country, and our visitors have high expectations. In order not to disappoint and to add to the fun, we request that everyone participating is dress in medieval style, and we encourage all points of sale to adopt a medieval theme. We will offer ideas and suggestions to help you achieve suitable attire!

    B&B rooms are available in the Castle residence building, subject to availability, with varying prices to suit. Alternatively, free on-site camping is available. The beer and food marquee will be open at night for staff and participants.

    Food Trader Booking Requirements

    All Food Traders must register to participate each year. It is important to complete this form in full, giving all the information required.

    Confirmation of the trading space(s) is made upon receipt of the completed form and the registration fee. At the time of booking food traders must provide a non-refundable registration fee. (which will not be applied if the application is not approved)

    All relevant food trader information is forwarded by email to approved food traders prior to the start of the festival.

    Trading spaces will be allocated in priority based on the date of registration, but no specific space can be guaranteed.

    Food Trader's spaces prices are as follows:

    • £975 per space, earlybird special if booked before 30th January
    • £1075 per space, if booked after 30th January

    *A £500 non-refundable deposit to be paid upon confirmation of acceptance, and the balance must be paid by 1st April (or the total amount due can be paid at the time of booking)

    Other Items:

    • Tables (6ft x 2ft) - £15
    • Chairs - £4
    • Electric - Costs vary based on requirements - minimum £80 for 14hrs use per day for the full weekend for a 13amp socket; single phase (2.3kW per 13A socket)

    Trader Passes: Each trading space includes two (2) weekend trader passes.

    • Additional weekend trader passes are £10 each.

    Refunds - Payments are non-refundable.

    Currency - All payments are in GB Pounds Sterling
